college recap: part II

Continuing with the recap of first semester. At Penn, I am in the Jerome Fisher Program of Management and Technology. I am also probably the dumbest person in the Jerome Fisher Program of Management and Technology. So here are my courses:

  • management 100 – just like the apprentice but much worse
  • intro to engineering – wow.
  • computer science 120 – kicked my butt
  • math for stupids – thanks mrs. unland
  • econ 010 – thanks connie

I also got a new computer, Thinkpad Z61t.

college recap: part I

Before I begin, I want to wish everyone a merry christmas.

Now on to the first installment of College Recap. For all of you who do not know, I am a student at the University of Pennsylvania and I am a resident of the Hill College House, dungeon floor.

Hill College House has been described as:

Among the notable college houses are Hill College House, a veritable prison designed to quarantine freshmen from the rest of the student population so as to prevent the spread of highly contagious froshenteritis. (uncyclopedia)

Hill Atrium
Hill Atrium. Dining hall below.

My hall is known as the dungeon, and I share a room with the oppresive force known as Gregory Tainter. I’m just going to put up some pictures of my room in this post and maybe I’ll do a post in the future profiling each person in the dungeon family. So upon entrance into my room you will see this:

My Pad
notice the bars on the windows. and the small dungeonlike ambience of the room.

finally

you are now seeing a new choudak. finally.

a semester of college has already passed and I haven’t written anything about it or put up any pictures. so, to the one person who probably still reads this piece of poop site, i will post pictures and stories close to everyday this break and hopefully finish documenting the highlights of first semester college before second semester begins.

so stay tuned…

so long saratoga…

wish I didn’t have to leave this beautiful familiar life. but I have no choice and no profound words to part with so

so long for now…

ZeroOne

ZeroOne : “A Global Festival of Art on the Edge & the Thirteenth International Symposium of Electronic Art”

Went to see the Digital Kakejiku exhibit which was a large dynamic projection on the San Jose city rotunda.

“It is the combination of sensory perception and subconscious awareness. The changing scenery of the sunset, the “space” between haiku lines, the “space” between sounds, and the “space” between times – none are tangible, but all are part of experiencing “the moment”. When experiencing D-K, the things that you see and feel all come from you. If they didn’t exist in you, you would not be able to perceive them in the first place.”

pretty artsy-fartsy stuff. all i saw were some colors on a building. i got to play around with some long exposure settings and my little tripod.

bay meadows

went to bay meadows to watch some horse racing. it was my mom’s idea so we paid to sit and watch two races. the track is a really somber place. just a bunch of old people and scary people and mad asian males. and then there was us: a random chinese family surrounded by people without money, pretending to have money, showing off newfound money. and we just went to watch the horses run around a little.
